Kathryn’s tutorial focused on creating collage mandalas. There are a range of different mediums that are employed to create the mandalas, collage, digital manipulation, zentangles and hand-drawn mandalas.

There is also a Mandala Affirmation Card Swap for Soul Journal Members and a Blog Contest. Stop by the Soul Journal Blog and have a look.

And the Winners are:

I just want to say thank you to everyone who visited my blog as part of the Birds of a Feather Soul Journal Blog Party. I also want to thank Kathryn – Collage Diva for hosting the blog party – it was my first blog party – it was exhausting visiting all those blogs (I think I got to them all!) and I still have to get back to everyone who left comments here at my blog. I hope everyone had a great Valentines Day!

Happy Valentines Day! – Soul Journal Blog Party.

heart and birds

I was inspired by Misty Mawn’s Circle Garland and Susanna Gordon’s Hearts that I decided to make my own garland. Last night I punched a variety of little hearts, using scrapbooking papers and painted papers. (I even stabbed my thumb with the punch!) this morning I cut two little birds and then stictched them onto pink ribbon to finish the garland. The garland is now hanging in the window of our lounge room.

The good news for you is that I am making another one as a giveaway. Leave a comment here 0n this post before Monday and you will go in the draw for a bird and heart garland.

Ken's Zentangle Heart

A Zentangled Heart for Ken for Valentines Day. I was making it for a giveaway, until he asked what it was for, so I wrapped it in brown paper and ribbon for him. I’ll get a frame for it next week.

In my last post I mentioned the book “The Vision Board – The Secret to an Extraordinary Life” by Joyce Schwarz, that has inspired Kathryn to develop some soul journal prompts for the Soul Journal Blog. Well Kathryn is having a blog giveaway and she will be giving away a copy of the book – All you need to do is leave her a message with your affirmation for the year – mine is – I will follow the path that resonates with my soul.

Soul Journal – Prompt 9 – Web of Love.

Soul Journal Prompt 9 was Web of Love – thinking about the webs that we spin out in in our own lives, relationships and roles that we play. The background was created as part of GPP Street Team Crusade 21 Irresistable – Making wax rubbings.

The background was created using a fiskars rubbing plate, a white crayon was rubbed over the plate and then when the rubbing was completed I wiped frayed burlap distress ink over it.  The detail was journaled into the web using a white gel pen.

Soul Journal – Prompt 12 – Gifts and Gratitude

Collage Diva’s Soul Journal Prompt 12 was to stop and reflect on our gifts and that which we are grateful for. The idea was to create 24 miniature collages for the given prompts. After the collages were finished an advent calendar was created to insert each of the collages.

I have made advent calendars before – a couple of years ago I created one for our family christmas album, each little door containing christmas stickers.

But this project was different. Each collage measures 1.5″ square and  was created using stamps, scrapbook papers, magazines and travel brochures. Each encompasses many faiths and was created by me to express my thoughts and feelings about each particular prompt.

The next step was to create the front of the advent calendar. Using two pieces of watercolour paper I sprayed a stencil with Ranger color wash – pesto, and then spritzed it with water. I then cut out the 24 doors and numbered them 1-24.
